By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (July 29, 2010) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Thursday, July 29, 2010: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 7 of them!

1. Golf
US Senior Open Championship, first round.
ESPN 2, 5 p.m.

2.
Max Payne
Mark Wahlberg stars in this cartoonish action film based on the third person shooter video game. Lots of fun if you don't take it very seriously -- or you're not easily grossed out by flesh being torn away by dozens of handgun blasts. Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Silence) plays a Wahlberg obligatory hot love interest, albeit for an all-too-short amount of time, while Mila Kunis plays her obligatory hot Russian sister and assassin.

HBO 2, 6:15 p.m.

3. MLB Baseball
Dodgers at Padres or Yankees at Indians.
MLB Network, 6:30 p.m.

4. Wipeout
(new)
ABC's quest to prove it can be just as trashy as Jeff Zucker's NBC continues tonight with its latest game show in which contestants are smacked, bopped and slammed into various bodies of water. Tonight, newlywed couples tackle the obstacle course, which shouldn't be anything new to them; no bigger obstacle course than the early years of marriage. (Mercury Ford ad babe Jill Wagner, pictured above, is the show's co-host.)

ABC, 8 p.m.

5. Burn Notice (new)
Michael, Sam, and Jesse must try to rescue Fiona when their plan to protect a wealthy business bigwig at his house party go horribly awry. Hate when things go awry.
