October 8: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (October 8, 2009) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Thursday, October 8, 2009: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 3 of them!

Bonus Pick:
MLB Baseball Playoff Tripleheader
Rockies at Phillies at 2:30 p.m.; Cards at Dodgers at 6 p.m.; Red Sox at Angels at 9:30 p.m.
TBS, starts at 2:30 p.m.

1. Survivor: Samoa (new)
Program descript: "
Russell considers outing one of his allies." Hope that the use of the word 'outing' doesn't mean a Richard Hatch-type outing. Not in the family hour, CBS.
CBS, 8 p.m.

2. The Vampire Diaries (new)
CW, the network for the saucy set, tries to ride the Twilight wave with this new series about studly vampires and the obligatory hot chicks they seduce. Tonight's program descript says: "
Jenna and Elena worry about Jeremy's relationship with Vicki." Well, I should think so. Vicki has already been attacked once in this show. But considering every male is a vampire, I guess it's par for the course. Or nails for the coffin. Or, whatever.
CW, 8 p.m.

3
. Bones (new)
Program descript: "
Human remains are found at a neighborhood block party." Wait a minute, what kind of town is this? Last week, "human remains" were found near a railroad track. Is it raining human remains or something?
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Emily Deschanel.
Fox, 8 p.m.

4. Fringe (new)
J.J. Abrams' second favorite wackfest continues to confound and confuse (exactly -- just like Lost.) Tonight, Olivia makes another trip through the light fantastic to the World Trade Center -- where she meets Leonard Nimoy! Yeah, I told you it's a weird show.
Fox, 9 p.m.

5
. College Football
Nebraska at Missouri.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Erin Andrews.
ESPN,
9 p.m.

6. The Office (new)
Everyone goes to Niagara Falls for Jim and Pam's wedding.
NBC, 9 p.m.

7. Grey's Anatomy (new)
Season debut. Despite those long, terrible working hours, Katherine Heigl is back as Izzie, although she flatlined on the operating table in last season's final episode. In tonight's episode, the program descript says Izzie "empathizes with a tumor-riddled patient." I bet she does; they have a lot in common, like those long, long hours, right, Katherine?

ABC, 9 p.m.

Bonus Pick:
CSI
Program descript: "Two officemates plot to rob a casino." Sounds like they watched those Ocean 11 movies one time too many.

CBS, 9 p.m.

8. The Jay Leno Show (new)
Jay Leno, better known as Jeff Zucker's Hail Mary Pass, tonight chats up Gerard Butler who will wander by to hawk his new movie, Law Abiding Citizen.
NBC, 10 p.m.

9. Late Night With David Letterman (new)
Tonight's potential sexual hook-ups include Kristin Davis who will try to hawk her new film, Couples Retreat, before asking the host to retreat as well.
CBS, 11:35 p.m.

10. The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien (new)
Tonight's guests include
Christian Slater who will wander by to hawk his latest show that will soon be cancelled.
NBC, 11:35 p.m.
