1. The Dark Knight
Christian Bale stars as the Caped Crusader in the best film of 2008. Thanks to non-stop action scenes directed flawlessly by Chris Nolan and a tremendous supporting cast of Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman and the late Heath Ledger in his next-to-final role as The Joker, The Dark Knight is as good as it gets. If you haven't seen -- or even it you have -- see it -- tonight!

ESPN, 8 p.m.

3. Survivor: Samoa (new)
According to CBS promos, one of the survivors almost doesn't survive after a particularly difficult test of endurance. Gee, you think that maybe -- just maybe -- that Jon Gosselin has a good point about the dangers of reality shows?  FCC? FCC? Are you there? Hello?
CBS, 8 p.m.

4. The Vampire Diaries (new)
CW, the network for the saucy set, tries to ride the Twilight wave with this new series about studly vampires and the obligatory hot chicks they seduce. Tonight's program descript says: "
Stefan tries to make Vicki forget who attacked her." Dear God, in just four episodes, this poor Vicki has now been attacked by a vampire; had a relationship issue with a vampire; had another vampire try to control her future; and now one wants to erase her memory. I would suggest get out of town -- anywhere but...Bon Temps, Louisiana.
CW, 8 p.m.

5. Spider-Man 3
Tobey Maguire stars as the webbed wonder who gets caught in his own web when his evil impulses take over in his quest to catch his uncle's killer. Kirsten Dunst is back as the obligatory hot on-and-off girlfriend and Elizabeth Banks gets a meatier role as a obligatory hot newsroom assistant.
