Thursday: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (November 5, 2009) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Thursday, November 5, 2009: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 3 of them!

1
. College Football
Virginia Tech at East Carolina.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Erin Andrews.
ESPN, 7:30 p.m.

Bonus Pick:
Paul Blart: Mall Cop
Kevin James finally gets his breakout role as a pretentious but lovable security guard in a shopping mall. The movie is dumb, silly and devoid of social meaning -- but it's funny as hell. If you need a good laugh on a Thursday night, don't miss it.
Starz, 7:50 p.m.

2. NBA Basketball
Chicago at Cleveland.
TNT, 8 p.m.

3. MLS Soccer
Real Salt Lake vs. the Columbus Crew in the Eastern Conference semifinal.
ESPN 2, 8 p.m.

4. The Vampire Diaries (new)
CW, the network for the saucy set, tries to ride the Twilight wave with this new series about studly vampires and the obligatory hot chicks they seduce. Tonight's program descript says: "
Stefan is visited by one of his oldest friends." Considering that he's a vampire, that could be someone pretty, pretty, pretty old.
CW, 8 p.m.

5. Survivor (new)
Program descript: "The Foa Foa tribe makes an alliance with some people on the Galu." I think the real survivors here are the audience members who tune in each week and actually understand what's going on.

CBS, 8 p.m.

Bonus Pick:
Milk
Sean Penn shines in this absorbing (albeit somewhat preachy) drama about the 1970s gay activist Harvey Milk who was assassinated by a twisted San Francisco politician named Dan White (played perfectly by Josh Brolin.) It was the political event that proved once and for all that Twinkies don't go well with Milk, in real life and the courtroom apparently. (History buffs will get that decidedly un-PC remark.)
HBO, 8 p.m.

6. The Office (new)
The writers continue to jump the shark; tonight, they trot out one of their old favorites: Jim and Pam are forced to go on a double date with Michael and his new girlfriend. (Okay, the show is still funny, but come on, guys; stop dipping into the old material.)
NBC, 9 p.m.

Bonus Pick:
Fringe
Because the World Series is over, Fringe, the home of mysterious, unexplainable occurrences, returns to its normal hour. Of course, they could have just combined baseball with Fringe by showing highlights of the 2009 Washington Nationals.
Fox, 9 p.m.

7. Grey's Anatomy (new)
Program descript: "
The parents of Arizona's 10-year-old patient want to make a donation to the hospital, but the child's condition then suddenly gets worse." And you wonder why Congress is spending all that time on health care reform.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Katherine Heigl
ABC, 9 p.m.

8. The Jay Leno Show (new)
Jay Leno, better known as Jeff Zucker's Hail Mary Pass, tonight chats up  Wanda Sykes who will wander by to hawk her new Saturday late night show on Fox.
NBC, 10 p.m.

Bonus Pick:
NBA Basketball
San Antonio at Utah.
TNT, 10:30 p.m.

9. Late Night With David Letterman (new)
Tonight's guests include
Gabourey ``Gabby'' Sidibe who will wander by to hawk her new film, Precious. Keith Urban will also perform so look out, Nicole Kidman, if you're planning to attend; the carnal-minded host is a walking stupid human trick.
CBS, 11:35 p.m.

10. The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien (new)
Tonight's guests include Jim Carrey (bring the valium, please Jim!) and HD Hottie Olivia Wilde of House.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Olivia Wilde.

NBC, 11:35 p.m.
