TiVo to Offer YouTube -- But Not In HDTV
The DVR service will allow TVs to access the online video site.
By Swanni
The service will be available on the Broadband-connected TiVo HD and TiVo Series 3 Digital Video Recorders, which can record and display high-def video.
However, at this time, YouTube does not allow its users to post HD videos so all TiVo-enabled videos would be in standard-def.
TiVo did not offer a specific launch date for the YouTube service so it's possible that the online video site could add a high-def component before launch.
The DVR service said users will be able to log onto their YouTube accounts directly from their TVs and then watch their favorite videos without need of a PC.
