Washington, D.C. (December 5, 2006) -- Consumer Reports recently rated 112 High-Definition TVs and found that only 12 offer what it calls an "excellent" HDTV picture.  Toshiba's 62-inch 62HM196 DLP rear-projection set is one of the twelve.

The publication says the set, which can be purchased today at Amazon.com for $2,149, offers "excellent picture quality from the HD component inputs and progressive-scan DVD component inputs and standard-definition component inputs."

The 62-inch rear-projection TV can display high-def in 1080p; has two HDMI inputs; a built-in HD tuner; a CableCard slot; and measures 18 inches deep.

On the down side, Consumer Reports says the set's remote can be difficult to use in low lighting. In addition, its rear input connector plugs extend beyond the cabinet "and can be crushed if the TV is backed up against the wall."
