Sony Pulls Plug On Tube TV
The decision marks the end of an era.
By Swanni
That's according to an article by Market Watch.
The tube TV had been the industry standard for more than four decades and Market Watch writes that Sony has sold 280 million CRTs under brands such as Trinitron over the years.
Like other TV makers, however, Sony had long ago begun transitioning from the tube TV to new flat-screen models.
However, the company is still producing CRT sets at plants in Singapore and Malaysia for sale in Latin America and Asia, according to Market Watch. But the plants will shut down at the end of the month.
