By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (March 2, 2010) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Tuesday, March 2, 2010: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 7 of them!

1.
The Dark Knight
Christian Bale shines as the Caped Crusader in the best film of 2008. Thanks to non-stop action scenes directed flawlessly by Chris Nolan and a tremendous supporting cast of Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman and the late Heath Ledger in his next-to-final role as The Joker, The Dark Knight is as good as it gets. If you haven't seen -- or even it you have -- see it -- tonight!

Cinemax, 5:40 p.m.

2. College Basketball Doubleheader

Vanderbilt at Florida, followed by Illinois at Ohio State.
ESPN, 7 p.m.

3. College Basketball
Villanova at Cincinnati.

ESPN 2, 7 p.m.

4. American Idol (new)
The top 10 female semifinalists perform. Good night for Ellen.
Fox, 8 p.m.

5. NCIS (new)
Gena Rowlands guest stars as Gibbs' ex-mother-in-law who may have the secret to unlocking a murder mystery. Hopefully not involving Gibbs' ex-wife.

CBS, 8 p.m.

6. Lost (new)
J.J. Abrams' favorite wackfest is back for its final season. Tonight, the new dark spirit of the island, formerly known as the ultra-sweet Claire (Emilie de Ravin), sends a warning to the temple people.

ABC, 9 p.m.

7. Showgirls
Elizabeth Berkley and Gina Gershon star in arguably the most gratuitous display of female flesh and lesbian lust that's ever come out of mainstream Hollywood. While the plot pretends to be about a young dancer (Berkley) whose fantasy is to hit the big time in a Las Vegas revue, it's really about making director Paul
Verhoeven and wacked-out screenwriter Joe Eszterhas' fantasies come true. The acting is cheesy; the plot beyond absurd; but if you're a guy -- or a lesbian -- you won't turn your head from the screen for a half second.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Gina Gershon.
Cinemax, 10 p.m

8. Parenthood (new)
Series debut. Based on Ron Howard's 1989 movie, the new ensemble dramedy stars Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, Craig T. Nelson and Erika Christensen as Northern California yuppies who try to cope with life and, yes, parenthood.  And not necessarily in that order.
NBC, 10 p.m.

9. Late Night With David Letterman (new)
Tonight's guests include former Gov. Mitt Romney who will wander by to hawk his presidential candidacy without actually saying he has one.
CBS, 11:35 p.m.

10. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (new)
Tonight's guests include former Gov. Sarah Palin who will wander by to hawk her book -- and her presidential candidacy, yes, without actually saying she has one.
NBC, 11:35 p.m.
