Washington, D.C. (March 9, 2010) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Tuesday, March 9, 2010: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 7 of them!

1.
Seven Pounds
Will Smith shines as a mysterious benefactor who tries to fix the lives of seven total strangers. Rosario Dawson plays his obligatory hot girlfriend while Woody Harrelson and Barry Pepper are strong in support. Good movie that will keep you guessing until the end.
Starz Edge, 6:50 p.m.

2. College Basketball Doubleheader

Sun Belt tournament final, followed by the Summit League tournament final.
ESPN 2, 7 p.m.

3. 90210
(new)
No, it's not the average number of people who watch a CW show. It's everyone's frothy fave from the 1990s, now all grown up and with a new cast of teen idols. And they're back with new episodes! Tonight, the program descript says Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord, pictured right) gets 'up close and personal' with Liam. I bet she does.

CW, 8 p.m.

4. American Idol (new)
The top eight female semifinalists perform. Good night for Ellen to cover up her crow's feet. Right, high-defaphobe?
Fox, 8 p.m.

6. Lost (new)
J.J. Abrams' favorite wackfest is back for its final season. Tonight, the suddenly impotent and confused Ben discovers the meaning of life; well, sort of. This is Lost, afterall.

ABC, 9 p.m.

7. The Forgotten (new)
Not to be confused with the confusing 2004 movie starring Julianne Moore, this new ABC series stars Christian Slater as the head of a crime solving team who specializes in cases colder than Cold Case. Don't believe me?; tonight's plot has the crew trying to identify a girl's bones found in an
old ammunition box. Hmm, tough one. Maybe ABC can trade a few sitcom players for the cast of Bones.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Elisha Cuthbert.
ABC, 10 p.m.

8. Parenthood (new)
Based on Ron Howard's 1989 movie, the new ensemble dramedy stars Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, Craig T. Nelson and Erika Christensen as Northern California yuppies who try to cope with life and, yes, parenthood.  And not necessarily in that order. Tonight, Zeek encourages Sarah to think big when looking for a job.
NBC, 10 p.m.

9. Late Night With David Letterman (new)
Tonight's guests include
Julianna Margulies who will wander by to hawk her CBS drama, The Good Wife.

10. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (new)
Tonight's guests include new Oscar winner
Christoph Waltz -- and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will deliver a musical interlude or two.
NBC, 11:35 p.m.
