By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (June 8, 2010) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Tuesday, June 8, 2010: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 5 of them!

1.
Max Payne
Mark Wahlberg stars in this cartoonish action film based on the third person shooter video game. Lots of fun if you don't take it very seriously -- or you're not easily grossed out by flesh being torn away by dozens of handgun blasts. Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Silence) plays a Wahlberg obligatory hot love interest, albeit for an all-too-short amount of time, while Mila Kunis plays her obligatory hot Russian sister and assassin.

HBO
West, 5:45 p.m.

2. MLB Baseball
Pirates at Nats. Stephen Strasburg's debut.
MLB Network, 7 p.m.

3. Jimmy Kimmel Live
(new)
The late night host welcomes Drew Barrymore in this special 30-minute, pre-NBA playoff edition.

ABC, 8 p.m.

4. Twilight
Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Ashley Greene and various other obligatory hot teens star in this romantic spin on vampires and, well, teen romance, of course.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Ashley Greene.
Showtime, 8 p.m.

5. America's Got Talent (new)
And the summer reality bandwagon keeps rolling on. Tonight, the auditions for this American Idol knockoff continue.

6. NBA Playoffs
Lakers at Celtics in game three. Series tied.

ABC, 9 p.m.

7. Glee
(new)
Sue pulls a fast one. Hmmm...

Fox, 9 p.m.

8. The Fifth Element
It's no surprise that Sony often bundles the Blu-ray version of this Bruce Willis sci-fi film with a Blu-ray player. The movie, which is equal parts action and satire, offers impressive detail and mind-blowing colors. And Gary Oldman's odd channeling of Lyndon B. Johnson as a space despot is a scream. And lest we forget that supermodel Milla Jovovich plays an obligatory hot alien from God knows where.
HBO
West, 9:15 p.m.

9 Late Night With David Letterman

Tonight's guests include Kate Hudson who will wander by to hawk her new film, The Killer Inside Me.
