July 13: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (July 13, 2010) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Tuesday, July 13, 2010: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 4 of them!

Bonus Pick:
Baseball: All-Star Batting Practice
The game's best sluggers try to reach the rafters in the traditional pre-game activity.
MLB Network, 5 p.m.

1. WNBA Basketball
The Los Angeles Sparks visit the Tulsa Shock. Sounds electrifying.
ESPN 2, 7 p.m.

2. MLB All-Star Game
AL vs. NL; winner gets home field advantage in the Series.
Fox, 8 p.m.

3. Wipeout

ABC's quest to prove it can be just as trashy as Jeff Zucker's NBC continues tonight with its latest game show in which contestants are smacked, bopped and slammed into various bodies of water. Tonight, the network says 24 contestants will face off against the
Door Knock, Moving Big Balls and the Zip Line Shape Shifter. Be extra careful of those moving big balls, folks. (Mercury ad babe Jill Wagner, pictured above, is the show's co-host.)
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Jill Wagner.
ABC, 8 p.m.

Bonus Pick:
Hitman
Timothy Olyphant plays an assassin who risks his life to save a beautiful Russian woman.
'Bond Girl' Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Silence) plays the obligatory hot Russian woman. No further questions needed.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Olga Kurylenko.
Fox, 8 p.m.;

4.
Public Enemies
Johnny Depp shines in this fast-paced Michael Mann film loosely based on the life of 1930s bank robber John Dillinger. (And we do mean loosely.) While Mann escapes from the facts more often than Dillinger escaped from prison, the movie is undeniably entertaining and the French actress Mario Cotillard makes for an alluring and obligatory hot Dillinger girlfriend. Christian Bale is also good as G-Man Melvin Purvis, although Mann super-inflates Purvis' role (and competence) in the Dillinger investigation.
HBO, 8:30 p.m.

5. I Love You, Beth Cooper
Hayden Panettiere stars as the obligatory hot subject of a high school nerd's dreams.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Hayden Panettiere.
MoMax, 9 p.m.

6.
Downfall  (new)
More reality for your summer! Tonight, two contestants each play the game atop a 10-story building in hopes of winning $1 million. A game played atop a 10-story building is called, 'Downfall?' Hope ABC's liability lawyers are on call. Tonight, contestants from California get to play; if they work for the state government, they've already met their downfall.
ABC, 9 p.m.

7. America's Got Talent
(new)
And the summer reality bandwagon keeps rolling on. Tonight, the auditions for this American Idol knockoff continue with 12 contestants performing in LA.
NBC, 9 p.m.

8
. Hawthorne (new)
Conservative media watchdog alert!
Program descript: "A death row patient is admitted to James River for a life-saving surgery."
TNT, 9 p.m.

Bonus Pick:
Rescue Me
Alcoholic fireman Tommy (Denis Leary) is back on the job.
FX, 10 p.m.

9 Late Night With David Letterman
Tonight's guests include
Kristin Chenoweth who will wander by to hawk her Emmy nomination.
CBS, 11:35 p.m.

10. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (new)
Tonight's guests include
Jennifer Love Hewitt who will wander by to hawk her new Lifetime movie, The Client List. She plays a hooker. Hmm...
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Jennifer Love Hewitt.
NBC, 11:35 p.m.
