October 20: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (October 20, 2009) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Tuesday, October 20, 2009: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 3 of them!

1. MLB Baseball Playoffs
Yanks at Angels in game four.

Fox, 7:30 p.m.

2. Dan Rather Reports
Conservative media watchdog alert! The veteran newsman examines
whether new truckers are trained to handle those big old rigs.

HDNet, 8 p.m.

3. 90210
(new)
No, it's not the average number of people who watch a CW show. It's everyone's frothy fave from the 1990s, now all grown up and with a new cast of teen idols. Tonight, the program descript says: "Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) and Jamie (Travis Van Winkle) have an intimate conversation." Hopefully, AnnaLynne won't be so boring that Mr. Van Winkle will go to sleep for 20 years (not to mention the audience.)
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of 90201's AnnaLynne McCord.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of 90210's Shenae Grimes.
CW, 8 p.m.

4. NCIS (new)
Program descript: "A practical-joke loving marine is found dead."
That's no joke, guys.
CBS, 8 p.m.

5. Dancing With the Stars (new)
America's favorite dancing soap opera continues with a B celebrity lineup overflowing with such has-beens and wanna-bes as Donny Osmond, Joanna Krupa, Melissa Joan Hart and Michael Irvin. Ashley Hamilton (that's a guy, by the way), Debi Mazur, ex-supermodel Kathy Ireland, Chuck Liddell and Tom 'The Hammer' Delay have already been eliminated!

Tonight, the dancers pay tribute to the passing of a pedophile (Michael Jackson; that's right, Michael Jackson was a pedophile in case you forgot after all the media fawning during the last four months.) Also, one more celebrity will get the boot! Oh, the humanity!
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Joanna Krupa.
ABC, 9 p.m.

6. Melrose Place (new)

The network for the saucy set brings back another primetime soap from the 1990s. The basic ingredients here are the same --  lots of bitchy dialogue and bed hopping -- but the new hottie cast includes Katie Cassidy, Jessica Lucas, Stephanie Jacobsen and Ashlee Simpson. We thought Heather Locklear had moved out of the Melrose Place condo complex, but she's targeted for a November return. Laura Leighton is back as the landlord. She'll have her hands full; maybe literally in some episodes.

In tonight's episode, the program descript says a photographer tries to get Riley (Lucas) to do a topless shoot. Oh, those LA photographers...
CW, 9 p.m.

Bonus Pick:
Slumdog Millionaire
Director Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning film about a poor Indian teen who wins the big bucks in a nationally televised game show but almost loses it all when government officials question his uncanny ability to answer the show's questions. Fun movie with multiple strong performances from the unknown cast.
HBO, 9 p.m.

7. The Jay Leno Show (new)
Tonight's guests include Martha Stewart who will wander by to hawk everything in her kitchen.
NBC, 10 p.m.

8. The Good Wife (new)
Julianna Margulies stars as the wife of a scandal-plagued politician who must restart her career as a defense attorney after the hubbie is disgraced once again. Well, if she's looking to associate herself with a better class of people, it won't be in the courtroom, let me tell ya.

Tonight,
the program descript says: "Alicia tries to prove a big train company is responsible for a freight train clash." Lawsuit against a big train company? Uh-oh, looks like yet another conservative media watchdog alert!
CBS, 10 p.m.

9. The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien
Tonight's guests include Mad Men's Jon Hamm. You know you need a new agent when your show's title has to come before your name so people will know who you are.
NBC, 11:35 p.m.

10. Late Night With David Letterman
Tonight's guests include Kristen Davis who will wander by to hawk her new film, Couples Retreat; she will then ask the carnal-minded host to please retreat as well.
CBS, 11:35 p.m.
