December 8: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (December 8, 2009) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Tuesday, December 8, 2009: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 5 of them!

1. College Basketball Doubleheader
Butler at Georgetown, followed by Indiana at Pittsburgh.
ESPN, 7 p.m.

2. Taken
Liam Neeson stars as an ex-government operative who's forced back into the field when his daughter is kidnapped in Paris. Maggie Grace plays the obligatory hot daughter while Famke Janssen is almost unrecognizable as Liam's bitchy ex-wife. Despite Neeson's advancing years (he's 57 now), his early days as an amateur boxer serves him well here and the action is fast paced. Good movie.

HBO, 8 p.m.

3. Dan Rather Reports
Conservative media watchdog alert! Gunga Dan! The veteran newsman tonight investigates Obama's new strategy in Afghanistan.
HDNet, 8 p.m.

4. 90210
(new)
No, it's not the average number of people who watch a CW show. It's everyone's frothy fave from the 1990s, now all grown up and with a new cast of teen idols. Tonight, the program descript says: "Liam and Naomi (Anna Lynne McCord, pictured, right) try to forgive each other." Something tells me that Liam will get over it pretty, pretty, pretty soon.

CW, 8 p.m.

5
. Obsessed
Idris Elba (Stringer Bell from The Wire) stars as a smooth corporate executive and family man whose life spins out of control when a beautiful office temp turns into a temptress. Al Larter (Heroes) plays the obligatory hot temp while Beyonce Knowles also stars as Elba's obligatory hot wife. The film is as predictable as it gets, but the eye candy is sweet and the final 'cat fight' between Larter and Knowles is worthy of the WWE.

Starz, 9 p.m.

6. Melrose Place (new)
The network for the saucy set brings back another primetime soap from the 1990s. The basic ingredients here are the same --  lots of bitchy dialogue and bed hopping -- but the new hottie cast includes Katie Cassidy, Jessica Lucas and Stephanie Jacobsen. We thought Heather Locklear had moved out of the Melrose Place condo complex, but she's back!

Tonight's program descript says part-time prostitute Lauren (Jacobsen) has trouble with a male client. Don't think the usual tin of cookies will cut it this time.
CW, 9 p.m.

7. Jay Leno Show (new)
Tonight, Jay chats up Gabourey Sidibe of Precious.
NBC, 10 p.m.

8. The Good Wife
Julianna Margulies stars as the wife of a scandal-plagued politician who must restart her career as a defense attorney after the hubbie is disgraced once again. Well, if she's looking to associate herself with a better class of people, it won't be in the courtroom, let me tell ya. Exhibit A: Tonight's program descript says "Alicia finds herself immersed in her old life when she is asked to represent the teenage son of a former friend." They keep pulling her back in, huh?
CBS, 10 p.m.

9. The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien (new)
Tonight's guests include Josh Brolin who will wander by to hawk his latest film, Jonah Hex.
NBC, 11:35 p.m.

10. Late Night With David Letterman
Tonight's guests include Barbara Walters. Hmm, way too old for the carnal-minded host.
CBS, 11:35 p.m.
