Dec. 30: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (December 30, 2008) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 30 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Tuesday, December 30, 2008: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are six of them!

1. College Football
Oklahoma State vs. Oregon in the Pacific Life Bowl from San Diego.
ESPN, 8 p.m.

2. House (repeat)
Program descript: "House and crew take on the case of an artist whose perception of reality is distorted." Guys, sorry, but you're about 30 years too late for that Warhol fella.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Olivia Wilde.
Fox, 8 p.m.

3. Ghost World

Thora Birch (American Beauty) goes unrecognizably fat as a recent high school grad who befriends a quirky but likable loner, played by the always recognizable Steve Buscemi. Charming comedy is lifted by the sarcastic banter between Birch and an almost unrecognizable Scarlett Johansson (pictured) who dishes well as her best friend. Fun movie -- and don't miss the hilarious opening scene with Birch dancing to a Bollywood musical.

HDNet Movies, 8 p.m.

4. Dan Rather Reports
The veteran newsman investigates why Ivy grads are still flocking to Wall Street. Just ask Willie Sutton, Dan.
HDNet, 8 p.m.

5. American Gangster
Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe go toe-to-toe in this real life account of drug dealer Frank Lucas (Washington) who ruled the streets of Harlem in the 1970s. Carla Gugino plays cop Crowe's obligatory hot ex-wife. Absorbing, never-dull drama from arguably Hollywood's most underrated director, Ridley Scott.

Thanks to non-stop action scenes directed flawlessly by Chris Nolan and a tremendous supporting cast of Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman and the late Heath Ledger in his final role as The Joker, The Dark Knight is as good as it gets. If you haven't seen -- or even it you have -- see it -- today! And if you're an Academy voter, vote for it -- today!
