Time Warner to Add Four HDTV Channels
The cable operator confirms ESPN 2 HD is coming soon.
By Phillip Swann

Washington, D.C. (April 4, 2007) -- Time Warner Cable today announced that it will carry four High-Definition TV channels from Disney/ABC.

The cable operator says it will add ESPN 2 HD "later this year," although it has been already added to some TW systems.

And it will add three new high-def networks -- ABC Family HD, Disney Channel HD and ESPNEWS HD -- when they are launched in 2008.

"This agreement will give our customers access to an even wider array of sports and High-Definition programming," said Glenn Britt, President and CEO of Time Warner Cable.

The high-def additions are part of a comprehensive multi-year carriage agreement between Time Warner Cable and the Disney company.

Some Time Warner subscribers say the cable operator has also added National Geographic HD in some markets. But TW did not mention that in today's release.
