Time Warner to Carry Big Ten HD; Charter Next?
The network will begin college football coverage on Saturday.

Washington, D.C. (August 27, 2008) -- Time Warner Cable has agreed to carry the Big Ten Network in standard-def and High-Definition in all Big Ten states.

However, it's unclear if the HD signal will be available in each state when the Big Ten Network begins coverage of the 2008 college football season this Saturday with the Wisconsin-Akron game.

In a statement, Time Warner said the agreement with the Big Ten Network has been reached in principle. Often, a cable operator will agree to carry a network's high-def signal, but local systems will need time to add it.

In related news, The Capital Times of Madison, Wisconsin reports that Charter Communications says a deal to carry the Big Ten Network is "imminent."

The cable operator, however, said details could take until today before an announcement is made.

Charter is the last major cable TV provider in the eight Big Ten states to strike a deal with the Big Ten Network which broadcast live college football and basketball games as well as other college sports.
