Time Warner: We Have 150 HD Channels In NY

Washington, D.C. (August 26, 2010) -- Time Warner Cable says it has recently launched more than 25 new High-Definition channels in the New York area, bringing its total there to more than 150.

The communities getting the new HD channels are New York City, Mount Vernon, Hudson Valley and New Jersey.
 

"Time Warner Cable now has the HD programming that matters most to New Yorkers, with all the HD games of all nine New York sports teams and NY1 in HD," said Howard Szarfarc, Executive Vice President of Time  Warner Cable's NYC Region.

The new HD channels include:

  • CMT HD – Broadcasts music videos, taped concerts, movies, biographies of country music stars and reality show programs.  Available on Channel 694.
  • Cooking Channel HD – Engaging chefs explore the art of cooking in every dimension bringing international flavors to the table, offering tantalizing new cooking ideas, and fueling the conversations about all things food.  Available on Channel 751 in New York City, Channel 751 in Mount Vernon, Channel 791 in Hudson Valley, Channel 727 in New Jersey.
  • CSPAN 2 HD – Provides uninterrupted live coverage of the United States Senate.  Available on Channel 776 in New York City, Channel 718 in Mount Vernon, Channel 720 in Hudson Valley, Channel 785 in New Jersey.
  • CSPAN 3 HD – Features uninterrupted live public affairs events and airs a large amount of archived historical programming.  Available on Channel 777 in New York City, Channel 719 in Mount Vernon, Channel 721 in Hudson Valley, Channel 786 in New Jersey.
  • Discovery Kids HD – Features children's programming with an emphasis on real-life adventures, nature, science and wildlife from all over the world.  Available on Channel 722 in New York City, Channel 735 in Mount Vernon, Channel 789 in Hudson Valley, Channel 726 in New Jersey.
  • DIY HD – Features programming that covers a broad range of categories including home improvement, landscaping and creative projects for do-it-yourself enthusiasts.  Available on Channel 688.
  • EWTN HD – Airs family and religious programming from a Catholic point of view in English and Spanish.  Offers inspiring talk shows, entertaining children's animation, exclusive teaching series, live coverage of Church events, and thought-provoking documentaries. Available on Channel 757 in New York City, Channel 715 in Mount Vernon, Channel 788 in Hudson Valley, Channel 752 in New Jersey.
  • Fox Soccer HD – Provides audiences with access to soccer games played from around the world.  Available on Channel 485.
  • Galavision HD – Features original programming and extensive soccer coverage. Available on Channel 769 in New York City, Channel 754 in Mount Vernon, Channel 750 in Hudson Valley, Channel 782 in New Jersey.
  • Hallmark HD – Provides heartwarming, high-quality storytelling via star-studded original movies, classic TV series and holiday celebrations.  Available on Channel 684.
  • Nat Geo Wild HD – Dedicated to bringing audiences extraordinary stories of the natural world and the amazing animals that inhabit it.  Available on Channel 696.
  • Nick HD –   Features popular children's programming from game shows and comedies to Emmy Award-winning animated series and original movies.  Available on Channel 706 in New York City, Channel 739 in Mount Vernon, Channel 732 in Hudson Valley, Channel 750 in New Jersey.
  • TV Guide HD – Features information about television channels, programs, and films.  Available on Channel 690.
  • VH1 HD – Provides entertainment programming, celebrity news, music videos, live performances and special events.  Available on Channel 719 in New York City, Channel 726 in Mount Vernon, Channel 760 in Hudson Valley, Channel 717 in New Jersey.

The following Sports Tier HD channels are also now available to Time Warner subs in the New York area:
  • Big Ten 2 HD – Features live sports events, coaches' shows and classic games.  Available on Channel 473.
  • Big Ten 3 HD – Available on Channel 474.
  • Big Ten 4 HD – Available on Channel 475.
  • Big Ten 5 HD – Available on Channel 476.
  • Gol TV HD – Features a diverse mix of original soccer programming and action-packed match coverage from many leagues from around the world.  Available on Channel 469.  Also available for El Paquetazo and DTV en Espanol customers.

The following Premium HD channels are now available:

  • HBO HD (SAP) – Broadcasts popular feature films, boxing events and sports specials, original movies and series, comedy specials and documentaries.  Available on Channel 952.
  • HBO 2 HD (SAP) – Features movies, series, specials and original movies.  Available on Channel 953.
  • HBO Comedy HD (SAP) – Offers comedy programming such as original comedy series, big hit movies and outrageous stand-up specials. Available on Channel 956.
  • HBO Family HD (SAP) – Features movies and series aimed at a younger audience and films suitable for the whole family to watch.  Available on Channel 955.
  • HBO Signature HD (SAP) – Provides contemporary documentaries, original HBO award-winning series, original movies and hit theatrical movies -- all with a feminine perspective.  Available on Channel 954.
  • HBO Zone HD (SAP) – Airs programming aimed at a younger generation such as  Hollywood and independent films, and documentaries.  Available on Channel 957.
  • Showtime Beyond HD – Geared toward the viewer with a bold imagination, this channel highlights the best in sci-fi, fantasy and horror films.  Available on Channel 670.  
  • Showtime Next HD – Catering to the Gen-Y audience, this channel airs theatricals, documentaries, music and variety programs.  Available on Channel 673.
  • Showtime Women HD – Features programming that celebrates women in front of and behind the camera.  Available on Channel 671.

The following Basic service HD channel is now available:

  • CSPAN HD – Provides uninterrupted live coverage of the United States House of Representatives.  Available on Channel 770 in New York City, Channel 703 in Mount Vernon, Channel 749 in Hudson Valley, Channel 729 in New Jersey. (Requires a digital converter.)
