Verizon Hits 100 HD Mark in Washington
The telco says it offers more than area cable operators.

By Swanni
Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- Verizon's FiOS TV service has added 53 new High-Definition channels in the Washington, D.C. area, bringing its total of HD channels there to 105, the company says.

The telco's TV service is not yet available within the city limits of Washington, but is available in several DC suburban counties.

In a press statement, Verizon says it now offers more high-def channels than DC area cable operators.

"FiOS TV is the only service to consider if you want the ultimate HD experience," said Mary Ellen Payne, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Verizon's Potomac region. "With our increased number of HD channels, along with HD video-on-demand programming, we're blowing cable away.

The new high-def channels in the DC area include: Animal Planet, TLC, Science Channel, Smithsonian Channel, FX, The Biography Channel, Superstation WGN HD, Fox Business Network and Fox News Channel HD.
