Vizio Now Selling CinemaWide HDTVs

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (June 28, 2012) --

Vizio is now selling a 58-inch CinemaWide HDTV that offers a 21:9 aspect ratio, thereby eliminating the black bars seen during some films on conventional sets.

The set, which was introduced last January at the Consumer Electronics Show, is available at
Vizio's web site for $2,499.99. The company says the set is in stock.

Vizio believes the widescreen set will appeal to movie lovers who yearn for that movie theater experience in the home.

"
Get the bigger picture with VIZIO’s 58” Class CinemaWide HDTV. It takes wide to a whole new level with an ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio and unmatched 2560x1080p resolution. No more black bars, just authentic widescreen movies in 1080p Full HD and Theater 3D," the company says at its web site.

The Vizio CinemaWide supports the 21:9 aspect ratio, which maintains the CinemaScope format that some films are shot in. With the traditional 16:9 set, those films may be cropped.

"VIZIO CinemaWide provides the most accurate, broadest canvas for me to paint my film's vision," award-winning cinematographer Mauro Fiore stated in a Vizio press release released last January. "Finally my films can be seen at home the way they were intended – in 21:9 aspect ratio."

In addition to the widescreen, the Vizio set comes with:

* Vizio Internet Apps with built-in Wi-Fi
* Edge lit Razor LED backlighting
* Four pairs of Vizio 3D glasses
* 120 Hz refresh rate
* 6 HDMI ports.
