Washington, D.C. (January 4, 2007)
-- Warner Bros
will soon launch a DVD that can play
movies and TV shows on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD machines.
The disc, which comes on the heels of an announcement
from LG Electronics that it will soon launch a dual HDTV
DVD player, is intended to alleviate consumer concerns
about the high-def DVD format war.
Many HDTV owners have been reluctant to purchase the new
HDTV DVD players -- and discs -- because they are afraid
that one format will soon be obsolete. The new formats
are not compatible, meaning one disc won't play on the
other's machine.
News.com reports that Warner Bros. will unveil the new
dual DVD at next week's Consumer Electronics Show. The
studio has dubbed the disc the 'Total HD.'
