July 28: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (July 28, 2010) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Wednesday, July 28, 2010: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 5 of them!

Bonus Pick:
The Book of Eli
Denzel Washington stars as a lone warrior in a
post-apocalyptic wasteland. Think Mad Max, Denzel style. Mila Kunis plays an obligatory hot rebel who turns against the obligatory evil town sheriff (Gary Oldman).
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Mila Kunis.
HD VOD, all day.

1. Public Enemies
Johnny Depp shines in this fast-paced Michael Mann film loosely based on the life of 1930s bank robber John Dillinger. (And we do mean loosely.) While Mann escapes from the facts more often than Dillinger escaped from prison, the movie is undeniably entertaining and the French actress Marion Cotillard makes for an alluring and obligatory hot Dillinger girlfriend. Christian Bale is also good as G-Man Melvin Purvis, although Mann super-inflates Purvis' role (and competence) in the Dillinger investigation.
HBO Signature, 6:30 p.m.

2.
MLB Baseball
St. Louis Cardinals at the New York Mets.
ESPN, 7 p.m.

3. Paul McCartney In Performance at the W. House
The
ex-Beatle
accepts the Gershwin Prize from President Obama and then jams with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello, the Jonas Brothers, Herbie Hancock, Emmylou Harris, Faith Hill and Jack White.
PBS, 8 p.m. (Consult your local listings; some PBS station may air this event at a different time.)

4. So You Think You Can Dance
Fox climbs on board the reality dancing bandwagon with the second season of So You Think You Can Dance. Hosted by Cat Deeley. Who? Cat Deeley! Tonight, the 6 finalists will each dance three routines.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Cat Deeley.
Fox, 8 p.m.

5. The Ultimate Trailer Show (new)
Tonight, Texas-based film critic Robert Wilonsky reviews the trailers for upcoming films such as
Jack Goes Boating (Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Ryan) and Welcome to the Rileys (Kristen Stewart, James Gandolfini.)

8. The International
Clive Owen and Naomi Watts star as two federal investigators who uncover some sleazy activities by a bank conglomerate. Besides the obvious joke -- a bank is involved in sleazy activities?; surely you jest -- the film delivers some fun action scenes and tense moments. Not a great film, but well worth your time.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Naomi Watts.

Starz, 11 p.m.

9. Late Night With David Letterman (new)
Tonight's guests include
Michael Keaton who will wander by to hawk his new movie, The Other Guys.

10
