We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Wednesday, November 4, 2009: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 6 of them!

1. NBA Basketball
Miami Heat at the Washington Wizards.

ESPN, 7 p.m.

2. MLB World Series
Phillies at Yanks in game six. Pedro Martinez vs. Andy Pettitte. Yanks up 3-2.

3. Slumdog Millionaire
Director Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning film about a poor Indian teen who wins the big bucks in a nationally televised game show but almost loses it all when government officials question his uncanny ability to answer the show's questions. Fast-moving story with multiple strong performances from the unknown cast.
HBO, 8:30 p.m.

4. The Ultimate Trailer Show (new)

5. Mercy
Taylor Schilling and Michelle Trachtenberg star as nurses in this new drama that promises to look at hospital life through the eyes of the aforementioned female assistants. Tonight's program descript: "Veronica takes a cue from her courageous cancer patient and contemplates facing her fear by admitting her affair to her husband; Sonia gets relationship advice from an experienced patient; Chloe plans a reunion with a former boyfriend."

Well, the show may be through the eyes of the nurses, but it appears that their eyes are on the guys.

Trachtenberg.

6. Criminal Minds (new)
America's favorite hunting party of serial killers tonight goes after a nut case who keeps his victims' eyes as souvenirs. That brings a new meaning to the term, 'bloodshot eyes.'
CBS, 9 p.m.

Bonus Picks:
Friday Night Lights
After getting the green light for two more seasons at NBC and DIRECTV, America's best drama is back for episode two. In tonight's show, Coach Taylor gets a little help from his old buddy, Buddy; Riggins finds a new place to live (probably at the house of that bartender he bedded last week); and Tami takes an unpopular stand at West Dillon High.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Alicia Witt.

DIRECTV, channel 101, 9 p.m.

21
Jim S
turgess stars as a brilliant MIT student who's lured into joining a card-counting scheme in Las Vegas. Kevin Spacey plays the ring's mastermind while Kate Bosworth is Sturgess' obligatory hot girlfriend. Based on a real life story, the film crackles with tension due to strong performances from Sturgess (think of a young Dustin Hoffman) and the always interesting (albeit hammy) Spacey.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Kate Bosworth.
Starz Edge, 9 p.m.

7. NBA Basketball
Dallas at New Orleans.
ESPN, 9:30 p.m.

8. The Jay Leno Show (new)

NBC, 10 p.m.

Bonus Picks:
Eastwick
The ladies are hot tonight in this new series based on the Jack Nicholson movie, Witches of Eastwick. In tonight's episode, Roxie (Rebecca Romijn) tries to fulfill Chad's last wish. Also, Cybill Shepherd drops in for a guest appearance as Bun's old friend; hmm, she played the friend to several 'buns' in The L Word.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Rebecca Romijn.
ABC, 10 p.m.

Changeling
Clint Eastwood's masterpiece about a woman (Angelina Jolie) in 1920s Los Angeles who searches for her real son after the police return an imposter. Jolie is brilliant and heartbreaking, proving once again that she's among our top actresses when she's not too busy preening before photographers or adopting Cambodian babies by the dozens. Based on a true story (the movie, not Jolie's real life.)
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Angelina Jolie.
HBO, 11 p.m.

9. Late Night With David Letterman
