Dec. 31: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (December 31, 2008) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 30 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Wednesday, December 31, 2008: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are five of them!

1. College Football
Georgia Tech vs. LSU in the finger-lickin-good Chick-Fil-A Bowl from Atlanta.

ESPN, 7:30 p.m.

2. The Ex
Zach Braff stars in this frothy farce about a young man who takes a job at his father-in-law's advertising agency. Braff's good but Charles Grodin is even better as the deadpanned Dad-in-law. And Amanda Peet makes for the perfect obligatory hot wife.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Amanda Peet.

Showtime, 7:30 p.m.

3. Knight Rider (new)
Program descript: "
Mike has to stop the spread of a computer virus that threatens a global meltdown, but the job gets much harder when KITT is infected." KITT must be running on Microsoft Vista.
NBC, 8 p.m.

4. Bones (repeat)
Brennan and Booth travel to London where they are asked to investigate the murder of a British heiress. What, there aren't enough crimes in LA for them?
Fox, 8 p.m.

5. The Heartbreak Kid
And speaking of Charles Grodin, Ben Stiller stars in this frothy remake of the Grodin-led comedy from the 1970s about a newlywed who breaks up with his wife to woo a blonde femme fatale in Miami. This version lacks the bite from the original, but it's still good for some laughs. Michelle Monaghan plays the obligatory hot female of interest.

Cinemax, 8 p.m.

6. Ghost Rider
Based on a comic book, Nic Gage plays a motorcycle daredevil who can ignite in fire when confronted with evil forces. Speaking of hot, Eva Mendes plays his obligatory hot girlfriend.

Starz, 8:05 p.m.

7. Batman
Michael Keaton stars as the Caped Crusader in this Tim Burton directed flick that kicked off the cinematic series. Keaton plays our hero as a quirky neurotic, but somehow it works. Jack Nicholson, of course, steals the show as The Joker, but Kim Basinger steals our hearts as Batman's obligatory hot girlfriend, Vicki Vale.

HDNet Movies, 9:45 p.m.

8. NBC's New Year's Eve With Carson Daly
NBC chief (and chief cheapskate) Jeff Zucker must be out of town to allow this special to go high-def. Daly starts the countdown to 2009 and is joined by the controversial singer Katy Perry -- and perhaps because of the Fairness Doctrine -- Elton John. (The show will resume at 11:30 p.m.)
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Katy Perry.
NBC, 10 p.m.

9. Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve With Ryan Seacrest
The countdown show may have the longest title in TV history thanks to Mr. Clark's numerous ailments. But who's counting?
ABC, 11:30 p.m.

10. Late Night With David Letterman (repeat)
Why ring in the new year when you can show a repeat with Dave cracking wise with actress Emma Thompson?
CBS, 11:35 p.m.
