Washington, D.C. (February 8, 2008) -- Microsoft has dropped the price of its XBox 360 HD DVD player to $129.

Amazon.com is now selling the player, which attaches to the game console, for
$119.

Before the cut, the price of the HD DVD add-on was $179. However, Microsoft's price drop follows a decision by Toshiba to lower the price of its entry-level HD DVD player to $149.

The XBox HD DVD player will display HD DVD discs and comes with with HD DVD of King Kong. Additionally, five free HD DVDs are available for free via a mail-in rebate.

The Sony Play Station 3 has a Blu-ray player inside, but it does not require an attachment.
