YouTube to Offer 1080p HD Videos

Washington, D.C. (November 13, 2009) -- YouTube has announced that it will support 1080p High-Definition videos starting next week.

The online video service has previously allowed users to upload 720p HD videos, but it says it now's capable of supporting the full resolution of 1080p.

The Associated Press reports that YouTube engineers have tested the 1080p system and is no longer worried about possible infrastructure problems or cost issues that could come with the bigger 1080p files.

The wire services says videos uploaded at 1080p will still have a 10-minute limit.
